“Baggage: the Gifts and Traumas We Bring from Home”

InterChange invites you to our November Meeting with Guest Speaker Eimear O’Neill

  • Saturday, November 7th 2015, 10 am-12:30 pm (UTC/GMT -4)
  • Peace Lounge, 7th Floor South, OISE, 252 Bloor St. W, Toronto (St. George subway station)

BaggageEimear O’Neill is an educator, trauma therapist and systemic constellations facilitator working here in Toronto. She migrated from a country in violent turmoil 40 years ago and has made it her life’s work to heal personal, community and transgenerational traumas. Believing that we cannot solve problems with the same mindset that produce them, Eimear explores a transformative approach to our current mass movement of peoples fleeing violence and environmental catastrophe.

Using the respect for ancestors and the larger Knowing Field of the life web we all share, Eimear suggests a creative framework for community healing of trauma and provides us with some experiences that may help us approach work with immigrants in new ways, building on the gifts as well as the wounds we carry with us.

With 30 years psychotherapy experience, 20 years as a community educator in intergenerational trauma, and more than 15 years university level teaching in transformative processes, arts based research, and peace and reconciliation, (www.tlc.oise.utoronto.ca), Eimear works out of a participatory worldview that centralizes deep democracy in relationships. She integrates indigenous knowledges from many peoples, including her own ancient Irish family, with her praxis of transformative processes.
