Women and Peacebuilding<\/strong>
\nwith Guest Speakers Lyn Adamson and Hannah Hadikin<\/p>\n

\nLyn Adamson and Hannah Hadikin, board members of Canadian Voice of Women for Peace (VOW) will join us to share some of their experiences in peacebuilding around the world, and the initiatives that VOW is involved in \u2013 peace leadership training, delegations to the UN, and annual conference in peacebuilding.<\/span><\/p>\n

VOW is an organization that Anne Goodman, founder of InterChange, was active in for many years. It was formed in 1960 to advocate for peace, and in particular at that time to protest nuclear weapons testing. VOW helped to keep nuclear weapons out of Canada and to ban atmospheric testing. VOW members travelled to Russia, to Vietnam, and to China, building women\u2019s peace connections around the world. VOW had a very strong anti-war-toys campaign, and promotes building of a culture of peace.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hannah is from BC, a Doukhobor, and is involved in the Okanagan peace group. She has travelled to Gaza, and participates in many peace activities in BC as the annual Mothers\u2019 Day walks for peace.<\/p>\n

Lyn is Co-Chair of VOW, a Quaker, and has been involved in human rights observing with the International Women Peace Service, Peace Brigades and Nonviolent Peaceforce. She has worked and trained in Indonesia, Kenya, and the West Bank, and in Toronto. Lyn is the workplace and organizational coordinator for the Conflict Resolution and Training program of St. Stephen\u2019s Community House.<\/p>\n
