{"id":31,"date":"2011-02-04T17:12:00","date_gmt":"2011-02-04T17:12:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/interchange4peace.org\/testsite\/?page_id=31"},"modified":"2012-08-20T13:44:05","modified_gmt":"2012-08-20T18:44:05","slug":"toronto-canada","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/interchange4peace.org\/?page_id=31","title":{"rendered":"Toronto, Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>InterChange GTA provides a local coordination function that supports InterChange\u2019s local and international purposes.\u00a0 Food, laughter, and regular in-person contact are central principles of the local centre\u2019s work.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Vision:<\/span> Community-based peacebuilders sharing knowledge and supporting one another to nurture and develop dynamic, durable peace.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mission:<\/span> To foster and make visible community-based peacebuilding in the GTA and internationally.<\/p>\n<p>We will do this by means which will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensuring that people working for peace feel supported, knowledgeable and valued in their work.<\/li>\n<li>Helping peacebuilders develop the education, resources and networks they need to carry out their activities and improve their practice.<\/li>\n<li>Inspiring and supporting others to take up the cause of peace and see themselves as peacebuilders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Administrative structure:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The GTA coordinating group has the following sub-functions \/ categories of work:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Events and projects (education, training, skills building; advancing international project themes at a local level; networking AND fundraising to support this)<\/li>\n<li>Membership and outreach (connecting with our members and involving other peace builders as members, media, connecting with funders, website)<\/li>\n<li>Fundraising and finance<\/li>\n<li>Planning and facilitating GTA coordinating group meetings (setting up structure, reminding people of meetings, asking for RSVPs)<\/li>\n<li>Liaison with InterChange International<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The group will regularly to address the above items; task forces can be set up to address priorities that have been identified<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Regular agenda outline:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go-around and introductions<\/li>\n<li>Appreciation \/ celebration (preferably related to InterChange)<\/li>\n<li>Goals\/emphasis of meeting; structural issues<\/li>\n<li>Liaison with InterChange International (report)<\/li>\n<li>Events and projects<\/li>\n<li>Membership and outreach<\/li>\n<li>Fundraising<\/li>\n<li>Future InterChange GTA meetings (next date, etc\u2026)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Criteria for an InterChange project\/event:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Builds the capacity and visibility of InterChange<\/li>\n<li>Builds a community of community-based peacebuilders<\/li>\n<li>Builds relationships<\/li>\n<li>Meets InterChange\u2019s definition of community-based peacebuilding<\/li>\n<li>Meets and promotes InterChange principles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Local activities for InterChange GTA:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Local education \/ training \/ skills building activities<\/li>\n<li>Networking \/ relationship building \/ community support (getting to know each other, sharing stories, etc\u2026)<\/li>\n<li>Newsletter (submitting articles, member profiles, events)<\/li>\n<li>Developing research \/ project activities at local level (e.g. on needs of peacebuilders); link with international if possible<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Contact Information<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"mailto: community@interchange4peace.org\">community@interchange4peace.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>InterChange GTA provides a local coordination function that supports InterChange\u2019s local and international purposes.\u00a0 Food, laughter, and regular in-person contact are central principles of the local centre\u2019s work.
